What is the San Francisco Food Blogger Bake Sale? We are a group of food bloggers from the San Francisco Bay Area who have banded together to hold the most fabulous bake sale ever in support of Share Our Strength. See details of the first year’s San Francisco bake sale on Dessert First and last year’s bake sale at Eat the Love.
What is Share Our Strength? Share Our Strength is one of the largest nonprofits in America, dedicated to ending childhood hunger. Through a variety of national fundraising events, Share Our Strength raises money that goes towards state and local programs to feed hungry children. See their site to learn more about the organization and how they work. The Great American Bake Sale is one of their efforts to get local communities involved, by having bake sales across the country, with all proceeds going to Share Our Strength. The San Francisco Food Blogger Bake Sale is part of this effort.
Where/When will the bake sale be? The bake sale will be on Saturday, May 4th, at Omnivore Books, 3885a Cesar Chavez Street (at Church Street), from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Please visit our Location page for directions to Omnivore Books.
What if I’m not in the San Francisco Bay Area? Food bloggers from around the country are holding similar bake sales in their home states, all on the same day. Gaby of What’s Cooking Gaby has teamed up with Bloggers without Borders. They have a master list of cities and hosts. Check it to find a bake sale in your state, or if there isn’t one, contact Gaby about organizing your own!
If you are a baker/blogger We need volunteers to bake their best treats and bring them to the bake sale to sell! This is a great opportunity to showcase your baking skills, meet other local bakers, and help out a great cause. If you want to bake, send an e-mail to email@example.com and we will contact you with all the details as well put you on the volunteer list. It does not matter if you have a food blog or not, but if you do, we’ll link this site to your blog, and we’ll have a list of participating bloggers we’ll hand out at the bake sale.
PLEASE do not show up on the day of the bake sale with baked goods if you have not signed up – we will be organizing volunteers to ensure there is a wide variety of items and items are properly packaged (for sanitation reasons), so we may be unable to handle surprise contributions!
Your Baked Goods Please label your baked goods clearly, and include ingredients. If you are contributing gluten free or vegan/allergen friendly goods, please be sure to clearly label that as well.
We encourage all bakers to package their baked goods in an aesthetically pleasing way. Remember, people eat with their eyes first! We’d love to sell out and the best way to sell your goods is for it to look as professional as possible and as appealing as possible. This bake sale is also a great way to spread the word about your blog, so be sure to put your blog on the packaging as well!
If you are a local business If you are a restaurant or bakery that would like to donate some of your baked goods to this event, we welcome your contributions and would love to list you as a contributor on our site and other literature. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, donation of ingredients for our bakers to use are welcome as well!
If you live in the Bay Area and want to experience some fabulous pastries and support a worthy cause at the same time
